Grammar - what is it?

Grammar is the system and structure of a language and has three main components:

  • Syntax - the arrangement of words and phrases - how the sentence works.

  • Morphology - the structure and formation of the words.

  • Semantics - the meanings of words.

Most people can spot an ungrammatical sentence when they see one. In this test the skill is to look at the details of each of the options - you need to be exact in this.
Grammar in the QTS Test

For each sentence read the whole of it very carefully. 

What is its meaning?Look carefully at all the options.

Select the option that provides exact agreement in terms of number and tense as well as making sense.

Read the completed sentence to yourself so that you know it sounds right.
